When you order a computer from Dell Canada, their emails include this “progress bar” image showing the order status.
While I admire their attempts to be informative, this is a silly misuse of a progress bar and, worse, it highlights an unfortunate depth of bureaucracy. Do there really need to be three steps of progress that all essentially mean, “Okay, we know you’ve ordered something”?
