→ Plan to shelve flu vaccines breeds dissent
The Canadian media have latched onto a study just published which puts the average age of those with H1N1 flu illness at 32. As a 31 year old, this obviously concerns me, but a closer look reveals that of the 168 patients, the most common ages were 0–5 (24 people), 20–25 (16 people) and 50–55 (15 people). “Average age” is a fairly meaningless statistic when applied across a broad sample. Only 12 of the people were between the ages of 30–35.
