Creating Thumbnails Using the CSS Clip Property →
This is the only page on the web I have found that explains the CSS clip property properly, which has perhaps the least intuitive implementation of any CSS property. This is because what most people want is to crop, not to clip.
The main things to take away are:
Don’t use commas between the clipping values for compatibility with IE.
e.g. clip: rect(0px 100px 100px 50px)
It only works...
